This course book is designed and written for students who needj t advance their reading comprehension and oral presentation skills in English in an academic environment. The book comprises eight reading passages and their related activities. Each of them has been selected to activate critical thinking and to lead to discussions and presentations ranging from 'informative speech' to 'debate'.
There are two main tasks foHowing each reading passage. The first task aims at familiarising students with the topic and preparing them for a further discussion of the topic. The second task aims at giving students input and practice for their presentation activities. It further guides them in preparing their assigned presentations, and thereby helps students make effective presentations both individually and in groups.
